Director + Public Relations consultant Harshmellow Media
Growing up Sarah always wanted to be a writer (barring a brief stint when she was convinced she’d be an Oscar-winning actress and triple-event Olympian).
After studying a Bachelor of Journalism and cutting her teeth in the public relations industry in Sydney, she returned to her beloved hometown of Townsville to set up Harshmellow Media + Design, a boutique PR and graphic design agency, with her partner Kieran Thomas. Here, Sarah has nurtured a passion for working on any project that brings people together, from new residential developments, to major regional events, to emerging independent musicians.
After 7 years running Harshmellow, Sarah decided to do something about the shrinking media landscape – launching a brand new music, arts and creative culture movement, HUXLEY Press earlier this year.
Straddling the fence between the PR and media worlds is proving an interesting challenge; but one Sarah wouldn’t give up for all the Oscars and gold medallions in the world.
Sarah has crafted media campaigns that have been covered by all of Australia’s major media outlets as well as the London Times, The Wall Street Journal and Agence France Presse (The European newswire); has run record-setting Crowd Funding campaigns; managed social media strategies that have garnered hundreds-of-thousands of views in a manner of hours; and was named the Public Relations Institute of Australia’s QLD Emerging PR Practitioner of the Year in 2013.
When she isn’t plotting strategies or wrangling words, Sarah likes to spend her time getting sand between her toes with her two kelpies, Archimedes (aka Archi) and Venus.
